My mother recently passed away and I have come across two painted, vase-like antique lamps. However, I don't see the maker or who the artist was that painted them. Where on the lamp can I find this information?

one suggestion - take off the felt covering on the bottom and see if any maker marks on the inside within about 2 inches of the bottom - if the shades are glass, look inside the bottom edge right above any metal rim - also look on the inside of the metal rim, if that's appropriate for your style - use a magnifying glass to assess any hand painting - it may be transfer which can appear as small "dots" of color as opposed to brush strokes - some transfer designs are enhanced with hand painted accents - KB
