These candelabra were in my grandmother's home. The interesting thing something's screwed in the center of the holder.
-
I looked for markings and took several photos. Time period?
-
They look an awful lot like they should be "lamp bases".
The top "petal" flange caught my eye, ...... like this one.

That could be. Might of had a fake candle light.
-
Bronze ?? Spelter??
-
Looks more like tarnished brass but hard to tell !! If there is a nut inside the candle holder its probably because these were made in several parts and are bolted together !! Hard to judge time period but I would guess mid to late 20`s But could even be later !!
-
I think it's bronze. My mom was curious about them. She asked me to take a photo. I have one other item to post.
-
It does not have the soft coppery brown color that bronze normally does !! This looks to have goldish yellow highlights like old brass !!
-
Looks like early 20th century candlesticks.

1920`s or so ?? That was my thought above !! What do you think Ghopper ??
-
Yep, sounds reasonable!

They had these Cupids with and object my mom calls a loving cup. Has anyone heard of that term?

They had these Cupids with and object my mom calls a loving cup. Has anyone heard of that term?
Sure. It would have been a cup for a function - such as a wedding - and would have been made with two handles, so that two (presumably husband and wife) could drink from it. It would have been made from the same metal as the candlesticks, and would have formed a kind of garniture for display. The candles may have been lit simultaneous to drinking, to symbolize devotion and longevity. Incidentally, the candlesticks look like spelter or old pewter to me.
Sounds pretty cool. What happened to the cup?
-
We still have it. Didn't consider it was part of the set. Now I see the connection!
-
Haven`t heard that term in years !! But yes,, all us oldies know what a loving cup is !!
-
Lol, oldies but goodies! Something similar on eBay. The prices are all over the place. How would you tell brass from bronze? I saw brass ones for $595., but then there were other similar that were spelter and bronze.
-
Thats not easy !! Scratch test is best but not always possible !! Spelter will have a silvery gray color,,brass a yellow gold and bronze a coppery red/brown !! But you have to scratch through the older surface to see whats underneath !! Usually a small scratch on the bottom where no one can see it will tell you !! Aged bronze has a beautiful coppery red glow to the worn areas !!
Kind of hard to explain but when you have seen the older bronzes its easy to know the difference !!
-
Remember they also have 3 handle loving cups as well!

Thank you all for your knowledge. You have been really helpful.
