Title: Strange Mason jar. Please help!
Post by: willylamar on February 11, 2017, 04:17:48 AM
Hello my name is William and I'm new here. I just picked up this piece not to long ago and have been wondering what it is ever since. I tried to look it up but I got nothing! It's basicly just a Mason jar with some sort of weird contraption attached to the top of it. The lid and the thing are connected together. Please help!

Hi there and welcome !!  Can you post a pic looking down inside the metal cap !!  Almost looks like what was used several years ago to make these jars into oil lamps !!  Inside the metal cap should be a slot for a wick !!

That's exactly what I thought, too, looking at the cap.
Oil lamp.

Would love to see inside the top as well and if there are any markings!

This one made me really think of wax tart/poupourri warmers - that have been very popular during the mason jar craze!  I have seen them made into mini heaters, mini cooking stoves and vaporizers!

However, if it is a flat top it is most likely a mini heat/cooking stove!
