Title: Settee/bench
Post by: kathyv43 on February 16, 2017, 04:04:32 PM
Hi guys...
I bought this to go on my porch...planning on painting and put a new seat covering on. A friend thinks it's old, but I don't think it's that old...vintage yes. I knew that some of you would know for sure. Any info? Thanks.

Looks like vintage alright, maybe 1950s or 60s.

Thats close enough !!  Its a cutie !!  How are you going to re-vamp it ??  That flame stitch cover was likely put on early 70`s !!

I would agree that it isn't Depression Era...newer...but still Vintage!

That will look nice!

Thanks guys (and gals)! It's one of those things I did not need, but it was only $20...so, I couldn't turn it down. My house was built in 1903 and has a porch that wraps all the way across the front and down one side...so I am planning on putting it on the side porch. Thinking I may paint it a medium yellow and perhaps leave the fabric as is since my doors are a teal color...it matches pretty good. The fabric is in good shape...a little faded...will have to figure out if I'm changing the fabric or not as I start working on it.
I want to thank all of you, for always being so helpful and gracious when I post questions and photos.

Yeah, you did very well i think! Incredible how affordable solid wood old furniture is these days. Indeed, when i first started collecting, period pilgrim furniture was TOTALLY out of the question for me, now, even i can snag a piece every once in awhile.

Yes, wrap around porches are great, i had one in DC and can remember just sitting out there watching the world go by. Very nice way to spend some time! Comfy seats are a must!

I would need two of the old tall slat back rockers with rope seats and nice cushions !!  Throw in a tea table and nice cold adult beverage  !!  Perfect setting !!

Just not for my 50`s ranch style !!
