Looks like a tourist item representing Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Thank you for the info.  Is this piece worth anything - my husband bought at an estate sale.  Thanks

I have seen similar ones as decorator items on an easel type stand !!  Most of these are made of resin,, not stone !!

This is definitely stone of some type - sand, or maybe baked clay.  It weighs about 4 lbs.  Thanks

What is the history of this item? It's extremely unlikely that this is "genuine," i.e. ancient. There have been laws in place to keep people from pillaging Egyptian historical items for many, many years. Therefore, this is probably a tourist item, as I said before, and worth whatever you paid for it.

Personally, if I bought this myself and it happened to be several thousand years old, I'd want to contact the Egyptian government to see about repatriation.
