Please look at the attached vase - not certain where it came from - there is gold gilding on the vase. On the underside, there is asian writing that I cannot read. Hopefully one of you could tell me what it says. Thank you

One more picture that shows the other side of the vase and it more clearly shows the gold beading. Thank you

Sorry, forgot to upload the picture.

Your vase looks of Japanese origin. Great resource is gotheborg.com. So many different marks it's similar to marks of the Arita region...?? http://www.gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml#arita
Maybe Mat can configure a little more for you if available.

Looking at the style of artwork/decoration and minimal moriage beading that would tell me that this vase is mid century or after and an inexpensive import from Japan !!

Thank you - I have had this piece for a long time and just could not read the mark on the bottom. Thank you so much.

Wait til Ipcress or Mat can look at the vase !! I am no expert !! I may be totally wrong !!

I agree that it is Japanese for export, but I am not familiar with the mark...

I am wondering if the upper part of the mark is a badly written "Dai Nippon", "Great Japan"...
