https://www.kovels.com/discussions/question/what-is-this-item-1.html
Looks like a candle but has a finial and small holes at top and some type of clips around bottom ?? They said it had ball bearings inside but they were probably the weights from the base !!

Mart, why does this look sooooo familiar? Hmmmm....looking.
-
Could the holes be for sprinkling holy water ?? I have seen something similar used in that way but there are clips for holding something around the bottom !! Weighted bottom so they did not want it to tip over !!
-
I think it is a "candelabrum" with the arms originally attached where the holes are, like here: http://www.onlinegalleries.com/art-and-antiques/detail/a-pair-of-early-19th-century-charles-x-ormolu-and-bronze-candelabra/250957
-
What are the clips for ?? Didn`t think about that !!
-
Good question, I have no idea what the clips were for.
-
Do the number of clips correspond to the number of rectangular holes? The clips may just hold extra candles.
-
What are the dimensions?
(Still looks like a fancy paper towel holder! 😃)
-
I agree....would be a pretty paper towel holder!
