Title: Help identify these Sewing Items
Post by: Artsylady on September 29, 2017, 07:34:11 PM
I bought a box in a thrift store of fiber craft related items and need help identifying the two items with twisted metal that are second and third from the left.  Everything in the box seemed pretty old.  Someone on a fiber forum thought they could be button hooks but I found nothing like them on Google.  There was a button hook in the box that was more of a hook shape.  I know what the other items are.

The two on the right are different shuttles - reminds me of a weaving and/or net shuttle.  The smaller one is also used like a needle.

The long one on left with metal is an antique wooden bobbin/spool.

The looped ones were commonly used in Victorian times for ribbon (ribbon threader) or blanket snag pull.

The ones  with loops on the end are for hooked rugs !!  The shorter/smaller is a shorter weave that the large one !!

Can you give the sizes of the 2nd and 3rd items from left and the size of the hoops please?

Mart, I have also seen some for hooked rugs (and used a couple latch hooks in my life - in fact the solid metal one most likely could be) but if you search the Victorian sewing sets the handled ones are more often seen for ribbons.
