Y'all did so well with the Rancoulet posting that I'll ask for your expertise here as well:
This bronze clock measures 18" wide by 24" tall and weighs in at a whopping 35 pounds. It features lion's paw feet, urns, dolphins, a balustrade, and is crowned with Father Time as an angel holding a scythe. I believe it is from France ca. 1860 or so.
The movement features the number 1633 and is inscribed "G. Phillipe/Palais Royal." I apologize for the fact that it's washed out in the photo.
I can find one other similar clock, although it's got lots of Bouille work and is fancier than mine:

I don't expect an exact value, but I wonder if the insurance replacement value would be too high at $4K?
Thanks everyone!!

I think you are being a bit conservative in that estimate !! $6500. is more correct in my opinion !!
-
Thanks Mart, as always. How did you arrive at that figure?
-
Hi GHopper,
I'm with Mart on that about the price, and trying to find out more information for you. And, let me just say I love that mantel clock!
Firstly, that angel is no angel ha! That is the Greek deity of Harvest with a sickle - Kronos or Cronos. That's what helped me a bit with my search. And Palais Royal is French for Royal Palace.
Now; I haven't found your exact clock yet, but have emailed the owner of the item shown in link provided for more information.

Father Time, Cronos, what's in a name? Ha ha. ;)
Seriously, once again you've gone far above and beyond in your efforts. I truly appreciate it! If you and Mart think $6500, then I will take it seriously indeed when it's time for an insurance adjustment.
Again, thanks and I look forward to seeing the fruits of your (considerable) efforts!

I check what available and the asking prices and see what some similar have sold for,, and if I do not see anything similar,, take that into consideration !! Remember insurance value is to replace what you have with similar quality and value !! Then you have to remember that selling prices are down for many things !! A few other things too but thats the basics of it !!
-
Right! Thanks again for all your input, both of you! You've actually been far more helpful than the "other" site, which has far more traffic. Points to you!!
-
;D And we are nice !!
-
Yeah, real nice!

Any other marks on the movement, Ghopper ?
Your insurance on this could be 6k because you’d have to replace it retail. An auction estimate might be lower but that’s different
Stunning clock. Chronos for time.

Thus far I've been unable to find anything else.
Thanks for your opinion, Ipcress. Cheers!!!!!!

I agree with the others. I wouldn't under insure this beauty!

Awesome, thanks so much!
