I have no idea what type of holder this is.I throught at first it was a candleholder but it's look too large for candle.I bought this item about 15 years ago.Anybody know what it is.

Don't know the dimensions - but it reminds me of an old Christmas tree holder my grandparents had! (I must say it was for a small tree!)

What does the diameter of the hole measure please?
-
How heavy is it ??

Maybe a primitive version of one of these. ;D ;D

Imagine a candle inside and a hurricane shade/globe and it might be !! Thats sure what I would use it for !! Just as it is,,!!
-
I would agree with Cogar, being that I see this as a "weather cap" for a lamp post, covering a light.
-
If it is,, and it may be,,I would still use it upside down !!
