Title: Very Old Drawing Doctors Operating On Man,Signed "Cathie"

I was going through some items I freceived from an estate sale and found this drawing inside an artist book.I'm not sure but appears to be doctors operating on an African American man.Really weird looking.Any information,I'm an African Americam woman found this strange.

Some of the stylistic fillips look like 1920s-30s. You're right, it's very unusual to find an African American subject from that time.

Yes ghopper I throught the same,the items I bought was so old,the pages of the book was torn

I wish I could see what the surgery was and can you describe anything you see about the man on the table (other than he is an African man.)  Can't specify an African American unless there is something in the picture that tells us this was originally from USA. 

I have tried to find a Doctor Joe or Joseph Paull, Black Americana surgery, Cathie (artist, caricaturist) with no results.

I was thinking it resembled late 1800's to early 1900's.  A famous/historical surgery?

What is the age of the book it was in?  Title of Book, etc.

Yes,, need to know what the book is about !!  Reminds me of something from WWll !!

The book was an old artist book with drawings,old ads which was from around 1800's.Most of the ads drawings were torn,stained.

Sorry I don't have the name just an artist scrap book with drawings,ads ect
