About 5" wide 4" deep. It doesn't look like terracotta.

Mart, this swirled coloring reminds me of items that I would see imported from Mexico/South America here in Texas in the 80's.  Does that ring a bell for you?

Okay, it is coming back to me!  This was called marbled terracotta.  It is more often seen with white - but it was seen in gray/brown in the 1970's - 90's in our area.

Yes,, its pretty common to see  a mixture in those imports !!  I have seen a lighter color  most often but can be any color !!  This looks more like a pipe rest with those indents in the back !!
