Title: THE BLUE BOY vintage oil on canvas PLESASE HELP
Post by: Zombiehordes on May 22, 2018, 02:31:53 PM
Found this at Goodwill today. Not in the best condition but still a nice painting. I don't see a signature on the painting but there is something in pencil on the back canvas. see pic
I see a lot of lithographs on line but not many oils.
The canvas is about 16"x23" and is secured to the frame with tacks not staples.
Any help on age or value would be appreciated
Thank you so Much

First of all, welcome to the forum!  Glad you are here.

Unfortunately it looks as if there are rips/wear/conditons to the canvas.

Without a hands on couldn't begin to give you an amount.

Reproductions have been made of this painting for years.

Hopefully one of the others will chime in!

Yes, it is in rough shape. Just curious if it’s worth getting repaired and cleaned.
Thank for the reply

Hi there and welcome to the forum !!  Personally,, I would not recommend spending any great amount of money on this one !!  Paintings can be ridiculously expensive to have restored !!

Didn’t plan spending a lot
Maybe just a sep above duct tape lol
Certainly not the finest copy of blue boy but I do like it.
At $3.99  can’t go wrong

Ha !!  I repaired one once with duct tape !!  Just for myself and I didn`t intend for it to last 50 years !!  But a few years later it still looked good !!  I paint so I matched the colors with acrylic to blend the torn area in !!
But now you can buy acid free tape online or just take it to a frame shop and see if they will tape the torn area for you !!  Might cost you $5. or so !! Of course you can also just ask if you can buy enough tape and do it yourself !!
