Hi just wondering if anyone can help me with this vase? cheers.
-
That would be Mat, Ipcress and KC`s area !! I am dumb as dirt about it !!
-
What are the dimensions of the vase please?
-
Hi, yes, the vase is Chinese. The mark is a Kangxi emperor reign mark (1661-1722). However these reign marks with four characters were almost never used during his reign, but a lot during the so called "Kangxi revival" period in late 19th - early 20th c. The style and hue of the underglaze blue also point towards that time in my opinion.
-
Hi brilliant thanks, it measures approx 32 cm high. The colour of the body/underglaze is more of a grey/blue than it looks in the pics if that makes any difference? Also how would you describe the shape? cheers again!
-
No, I do not think that makes a difference. The shape is called "double gourd vase" as far as I know.
-
Thanks again +1!

Mat is correct, it s a double gourd.

I'd say a bit later than Mat, looking at the base rim.
It's not a modern copy but it's a 20th century version of an earlier vase.

Great resource KC. I put it in the special threads section.
