Title: Junk drawer need help identifying some things

I recently bought a box from a cleaned out house and had since rather interesting things in it. I'll post some pictures and sure would love help identifying them.

A better picture could help.  Take a picture of the entire piece.

I see the markings 5/16, 1 x 4 and 3/8.  Just off the top it reminds me of a trim piece identifier.

Yes,, need to see the entire thing !!  Also measurements and a bit of a verbal description !!  Pics do not tell every thing !!
