To coincide with the anniversary, New Orleans gallery M.S. Rau Antiques is showcasing stunning silverware made by Revere, which include a coffee pot valued at $1.85 million. The items provide a glimpse into the patriot’s talents as a silversmith.

OK,, I am curious !! Does a person "make" coffee in these early pots or is it just a serving pot !!
Just a bit above my budget but an amazing piece of work !!

Mart, people "made" coffee in these pots many years ago. These are museum pieces now so I doubt they are utilizing them for their intended purpose these days.
However, I know some people that would pay big bucks (like an auction item to benefit a charity) to have a meal or outing that was served using these pieces!

I would love to see the inside !! I just can`t figure how it was made !! Drip pot ?? Does not look quite right for that !! Not something you would sit on a wood stove !!
-
Mart, me thinks its sole purpose was for "serving" the brewed coffee by the butler or maid, ……. not for brewing or "perking" the coffee.

Oh...now I get your question. Just thought you were trying to drum up conversation! (Thanks cogar!) It is for serving already brewed coffee like cogar stated!
Mart, hope you are faring well with the storms coming thru over the next couple of days! Hope there's not a hell-of-alot of Hail! 😮

When one sees a beautiful item like that coffeepot, it is sometimes difficult to get one’s mind to “thinking” that it was made by a self-employed craftsman in “a little shop around the corner” in 1775. 😊

Our area had so much rain last night that an airport parking garages had LOTS of cars/trucks under water and a train derailed that was loaded with ethanol resulting in a fire (destroyed a barn n killed 3 horses!) :(
