Title: Sword 1868

Hello.  I have had this sword around for as long as I can remember and do not know where it came from but am interested in any information anyone can give as far as what it says on the sword and its value.  Attached here are two photos.  One photo is the sword and its sheath and the other is a photo of what is engraved in the edge of the blade of the sword.  Couldn't get a clear picture of it so I wrote it on paper and scanned it to show what it says.  Thank you.

Hello.  I have gotten feedback from 2 people so far about my sword so far but as far as price goes they were conflicting so i am hoping to hear from a third person

Totally unqualified regarding swords but the engraving:  looks French to me.  I don't speak French.  But your local high school?  Do they still teach the language?  Chat I believe is the word for Cat - de Chat could be of the cat - do follow thru with the translation - KB
