hello
Are the swirlls wood or plaster?
Put a coin on edge on the mirror what is the gap to the reflection.
What is the back like?
You could have a good piece, but some thing says its to good, it looks german.
Answer the questions and I will try a bit more

Thanks!

It seems to be something like Brass, it is definitely not wood or plaster!

Now, what do you mean about putting a coin on the edge of the mirror?  I am new to all of this.

Oh, and the glass has been replaced in it.

Let me know!

Thanks,
Megan

Hello

I believe your piece is actually a photo frame which at one time had a back on it with an easel stand so that it might stand upright on a table top.  It most likely is painted cast iron.  If it is iron, it will draw when you put a magnet to it.  Someone at one time has replaced the glass with a mirror so that it might be hung on a wall which is a nice use for it since the backside has been removed.  It appears to be quite old, possibly from the Victorian era.  I hope this information is of help to you.

Best regards,

Rose

I'll have to check that out and see if I can find anything.  I can't seem to find anything in the mirror department.  It did draw a magnet, so I guess it is Iron.  Here are some additional photos I took.

I also found this:  Mirror Victoria Era (http://www.rubylane.com/shops/1packrat2another/item/ES-148)
