Title: Chinese creamer and sugar bowl?
Post by: BetterNights on February 23, 2006, 10:29:33 AM
Hi all.  I need some help here.  I've got a creamer and sugar bowl set, black with what appears to be pewter design, dragon motif.  There are four Chinese characters along the lid.  There is a raised stamp on the bottom that says 'Shanghai, China', with more chinese characters above it.  I'm not sure if it's all metal or if it's black colored pottery.  Stands approximately four inches tall.  Does someone have any idea who might have made it, or any more information at all?

identifying Oriental pottery is not for the faint at heart.  There is a site that specializes in this:

www.gotheborg.com

I don't know if they still do identifications for a small fee - but you can peruse backstamp marks for China or Japan.  Might be worth a try.   KB

Yeah, it's difficult.  Thanks for the link, though!
