I have an antique hand crank sewing machine (brand name STERLING ) possibly made by the Singer company in the early 1800s. It belonged to my dad's grandmother (my dad is 85 years old). I tried to get info. on the web but can't find any. Does anyone out there have any idea about this brand of machine. I can't find a serial number anywhere on the machine and would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Here http://www.singerco.com/company/history.html (http://www.singerco.com/company/history.html)
is some history on Singer. Or you can type in 'sewing machine history' into your favorite search engine and check other sites if it is not a Singer.
