Anyone know just what this thing is? My dad's friend found it. It says "Patented Dec 23rd, 1890. Sorry about the image quality, my webcam blows.

Any help in finding out what it is will be appreciated.

It looks like some sort of wall bracket. Has it got any holes in it that could attatch it to something else? Where did you dad find it? Might get some clues from the location. Sorry I cant be of much help but I love a mystery

It is is cobbler's shoe stand or shoe repair stand. A cast iron 'shoe last' would fit over the pointed end and repairs to shoe/boots would be done by the shoe cobbler............ ..
