Title: Unknown Chinese or Japanese seal/stamp.

Is there anyone who knows about old name stamps, or "chops"? This is something that my mom inherited from her parents over fifty years ago, and they had it for as long as she can remember. I think it is an egret, and haven't been able to identify the characters. Any help would be appreciated!

chop is correct. it's time frame was. the qing dynasty. emperor quanlong. 1735 to 1796. ( CHINESE )  crane (bird) meaning. longevity  super human wisdom.
