...a vase that I stumbled upon in a thrift shop in Valley Stream, NY. No mark or stamp...

The white outline on the birds, as well as the pale blue dots on the handles and rim, are raised. There is no signature to be found.

looks like early 20th century Japan - when it was called Nippon - the raised decoration would say moriage - here's a site to give you some ideas
