Title: old desk info?
Post by: becca2 on January 20, 2007, 05:49:24 AM
I have found a old oak desk.....can't find them in any antique places.  Found one on ebay but it is a signed item which changes the value.

This desk is oak.....it has a drop middle the size of an old electric typewriter, the drop area drops down and makes the desk a solid top type...then you lift the area and it opens up like a tray.   the drawers have a wooden file system that lays flat in layers for filing.

can anyone help me with this?  I would appreciate it.

the one in ebay is called
RARE SIGNED ROYCROFT MISSION OAK TYPEWRITER DESK

Seems like I replied to this or one like it a while back. For the most part, I think these were popular during the 1940's-50's. In general, not a lot of value, as they haven't laid claim to collectibility yet. Maybe $100 at the right auction, but photos might tell us more.
