Title: Searching for Information on this mirror
Post by: angelina77 on February 25, 2007, 11:29:21 PM
I found this mirror in the crawl space beneath my 1915 craftsman home.  The town I am in is a water port and on a major train route.  I have spoken to local antique dealers who think it may be from a boat or train.  I haven't been able to find anything like it at all.  Anyone know where it could be from?Link to photo: share.dell.shutterf ly.com/action/welcome?sid=8Aas2rRu5as2L4

Thanks.

Thank you D&B.  I have been searching the internet since I found it.  Why can't I find anything like it?  Is there somewhere specific I can find information on it?  I was offered $150 for it but I wanted to know more first.
Thanks for your help.

Not in the best of condition. If I were to sell I would take an offer of $150.

I was thinking if I could find out more about it I would know if it is worth fixing up first.  Just can't seem to find anything similar anywhere.

I believe it's worth cleaning up but then I like this sort of item. It probably did come from a boat/ship as DB stated. The shelving with the raised portions keep the glass/shaving items, etc. from falling off. It looks to be all brass?, which you can clean with a brass polish. Is the mirror broken? A beveled mirror would add value. It would probably be difficult to track down information unless by cleaning you discover a manufacturers name.
