Title: Musical Instrument . Cornet . very old

Just click on a picture to view a very large picture.   I have not cleaned this cornet as I do not know what to use that would not harm the surface.  Here is what I have been able to read thus far.

The number 17694

1901 (I think)

Elkhart, Indiana

And then there are a series of letters that I just can't read. 

I would appreciate anything that you can tell me about this Cornet as it belonged to my Fathers side of the family and they came to America from Germany prior to WW1.  Thanks.  Mary

Elkhart made a lot of instruments during the turn of the century+. You can check this site:

click on cornets.......maybe send them a photo and info.
