Title: Goat Leather Pad/pencil holder
Post by: oldtreasure on August 18, 2007, 11:44:46 AM
I recently acquired a very old-looking pad/pencil holder stamped "Genuine Leather Made in Spain".  It is 7-1/2" x 10" overall, and holds a pad approximately 6" x 8-1/2".  There is a loop for a pen or pencil on the right-hand side.  The flap cover is intricately embossed with leather lacing edging, with a picture of a Spanish soldier carrying a spear, riding a horse.  Alongside the soldier is a short, fat man riding a donkey.  There are mountains and clouds in the background.  The inside of the case is red satin.  Can anyone tell me anything about this item?
