Title: Antique Wind-up Monkey
Post by: pammyb on January 23, 2008, 07:00:30 PM
??? Hi - I found this old toy in my mother's stuff when we cleaned out her home. Does anyone know what it's age or value might be? See attached pics

He's not familiar to me. Look under his clothing for any identification as to maker, etc. He appears more 'vintage' than antique to me.

Hi Tim -
Thanks for your response.
What would be the difference between antique and vintage?
His clothing is glued or stuck to his body but there is some wording on the back of the guitar - I can't read it even with a magnifying glass but will try to get something more powerful to see it.

Hi Pam........"antique" would normally refer to an item 100 years old or so.............your monkey, I'm guessing seems to be around 1950 or "vintage, 1950". I base that on his clothes and colors. His banjo appears to be plastic.
