Title: Identify plastic like material?
Post by: nrockwell on February 24, 2008, 05:41:44 PM
I was recently "told" about a plastic like material used to make decor items possibly in the 40's. The material is said to be very sturdy, resistant and holds its form. I was also told this material has a distinct smell to it. (if you where to wet your finger and rub the item you find a very distinct smell) The dealer said that the material was called siraca (I am spelling it the way it sounded). I have been unable to find any supporting documentation on this information. I have a large plastic like clock and sconces that are definitely older and not regular plastic, can anyone give me more information on this?
