Title: Wondering the worth or origin of a solid sliver hand mirror

Hello.....I'm very new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me---I've got 5.25" x 9.25" hand mirror that weighs 1lb 1oz---It does have some very pretty scroll work on the entire mirror(But it is missing the glass mirror part)---I tried the makeup trick and it left a black mark and also was able to scratch into the mirror with my knife and it remained solid. Is this a mirror I should hold onto or should we melt it down to make something out of it?? If I can post a pic, I would but don't know how to do it. Anyone help with some info?? well as a rule. any and all silver item's are marked in such away as to determine silver content.
when there not. it must be tested.of which most any pawn shop can do with a simple chemical test.

best bet.if it's silver is scrap it.
