Title: what are these, are they valuable?
Post by: hanny on June 23, 2008, 03:30:00 AM
I found these two objects in my Attic, the pencils seem to be silver, but do not have any hall marks, they have text saying sterling silver on them. I am pretty sure coin is gold and has some value, any help would be great, thanks.

I can only venture a quess about the pencils, and that would be,

the name suggests they were made/sold in England,

they appear to be a fancy "gift" set,

the Heart, Diamond, Spade and Club insignia suggests "playing cards",

thus they may have been made for a gift for someone who was a "card fanatic" such as a Bridge player.

OOPS, I decided to Google that "guess" and found this for you.

Here, click on this url

and check out all the items clear to the bottom to see what I mean. I noticed 1 mechanical pencil near the bottom and a box of "bid pencils" about half way down which suggests to me that is what you have.

Bridge bid pencils

cheers
