Title: I.H. Wisler and Sons
Post by: joa629 on July 30, 2008, 08:42:41 PM
I have a rocking chair (picture attached) that I bought about 15 years ago for $10 from someone I worked with. It has a sticker on the bottom that is wearing off. All I can make out is I.H. Wisler and Sons. I've done some internet research on the company and know they were in Philadelphia at one time. I believe they made furniture in the late 1800's. Does anyone have any other info. on this company or the possible value of the chair? Thanks.

It looks to be what is called a Nursing Rocker.

It appears (from your photo) to be about 1900, oak, and restored at one time. I'd guess it to retail for around $75-$100.
