Title: Not sure what it is or what it's worth?

Hi everyone.  I was given this by an old relative when i was a little kid.  I have kept it for a long time, but i have no idea what it is exactly. On the bottom of the lid, there are two marks, one appears to be 935 in an oval, and the other is either 35 CE or 35 GE.   One person who saw it said it was a pill box, another said it held potpourri and was pinned to a hat or coat?  I have no clue.  Any ideas?

I remember items similar to these and they were used to help scent with cotton balls scented with perfume or oils.  When not in use they were use in the linen drawers.
