Title: I don't know what this is.

Appears to be Mahaganny and has very detailed brass or bronz etching emplanted in the wood. It has an old lock on the front. It also has mother or pearl pcs emplanted along with some type of redish material too. Alot of detail. Any help?

My guess would be that this was an old spice chest. Spices used to be very expensive, so you would want to lock them up in something. It deffinitly has a racks in it that look like they were ment for bottles.
