Title: Bronze elephant question
Post by: genepix on December 28, 2008, 11:36:32 AM
(http://)
Hello- First time post here.  I hope the photo is properly uploaded.  I would love to know more about this bronze elephant that my dad brought back from the Korean War.  (http://)  I've been told it was a incense burner and dates from the Ming Dynasty, but have never found another one like it.  It is approximately 12 inches long and slightly over 16 inches tall.  If anyone can help tell me more it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

You have a very nice & vintage copy.

D&b- Now that my curiosity has been piqued, I'm desperate for more information.  I spent quite some time searching all things Korean, and was unable to find anything of relevance...Do you have additional information about this elephant or a specific contact who could help answer my questions ( age, purpose, etc)? I just want to be able to properly identify this item so that when my kids ultimately put my belongings in a garage sale, at least they will have some of the history- (whatever that may be)......I do appreciate any knowledge you may have on this...Thanks....
Gene

it's purpose was and incense burner.it pertains to the buddist religion. it was most likely. made in the early 40's.it was not likely made for tourist.

it's a treasure in the fact your father owned it.
