Title: Speaking of book ends...

I imagine these are fairly rare but sadly I don't think too many people collect Hartford Insurance book ends.  The elk is nicely done and they're a matching set.  Any ideas on worth or rarity?

No Doubt a hunters delight. & vintage too. I would'nt be surprised to see them bring $ 50.00 to $ 75.00 for the pair

Interesting tidbit. sir edwin landseer was the original painter of  the Hartford stag. circa 1851. the stag was changed from a mountain scene to a stream in 1890.

Oddly enough your stag is in the mountain's. which by all rights should be a Boo Boo.which may very well push your set to Rare.

Underneath each elk it says: "Modeled by Lavra Gardin Fraser After Landseer"  On the back incised it says Bastian Bros Company, Rochester NY, Howard Hammitt, Hartford.

I did some checking. auction records back to 1989 indicate one set of Hartford bookends were sold. no mention of style. they sold at $23.00 Dollars.

These speak very well of them self's. a famous sculpter in her own right a. ( Laura G fraiser ) the company that did the work started. in circa 1889.
