Title: Unusual Porcelain vase midnight blue background gold birds on branches
Post by: AmyHeinritz on January 06, 2009, 04:13:17 PM
:'( I have tried everything to find out what this is. I need to get rid of it before I break it or throw it out the window. It is a cobalt (midnight blue) vase (not round) with beautiful detailed birds on branches and berries.  It has twin scrolled handles and on the bottom looks line Oving--- in a circle on gold and a number 8712. I was told by my aunt who purchased this form my mother back in the 80's that it was a very famous artist and knowing her she paid big bucks for it.

The first thing I would do. is carefully remove it from the window. it's called bristol blue or cobalt blue.with a 24 karat gold overlay.

It was made by Schneider glass. ( french Art glass) $500.00 Dollars.

A wonderful site to read up on the history of Schneider Glassware is decoesque.com/schneider article, page 1.html.  You have a gorgeous piece.  (Keep it out of the window!)
