I received this gift from a family friend about 10 years back.....I didn't get much info on it, just that she had paid top dollar for this piece. I enjoyed it very much and held on to it since. It appears to be a large very heavybucket or planter which I believe is bronze, surrounded by 41- French 2 Francs (earliest franc dated 1941) and 1 coin from Marocco. I think that it is odd that the Marocco piece was thrown on there. Is there a reason why? Is this piece of French origin? Any idea what exactly it was used for? The pictures should speak for themselves, I would like to know the history of this piece....Please help me!!!!! Thank you!

I dont know much about your piece but I do know that Morocco became a french territory with the Treaty of Fez in 1912 and earned their independence in 1956. The Maroc Empire Cherifien coin is possibly a 2 francs minted in late 40's earily 50's. Example of the coin http://cgi.ebay.com/MOROCCO-COIN-2-FRANCS-1945-AH1364-EXTREMELY-FINE-COND-/260479225275?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ca5c58dbb
Maybe a coal bucket? Or an ornate bucket for a wishing well ;D hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum , PaulMacolino .
I'm curious to know the "newest' date on any coin on your item , and also in what country it was purchased by your friend .
Would it be possible for you to post an image showing the entire exterior (shape) of your item ?
It certainly appears to be quite a heavy-duty unit !

Not sure you are going to get a response to this one Regularjoe, this post date back a year and a half and Paul has been on the forum since, this one just got bump from the past.

That's okay! There are many items that take time to figure out! Makes it even more interesting...even if the poster doesn't check back!
