Title: last but not least...small china container

Nippon hand painted with a circle of leaves with a M inside, has gold edging around top and alot of gold on the entire item .  would love some info on thie piece also. value

This is a "hair receiver".  Ladies would have powder jars, lotions jars and hair receivers on their vanities.  The hair receiver was to hold the loose hairs that ladies loose out of their hairbrushes and clothing.  They were then used to help with hairdos (ratts), pin cushions and even jewelry/art/adornment!

Price ranges from $25 up to hundreds. You can see these sold all over the internet, ebay, etc.

This one did come with a powder jar. it was a premium give away by larkin soap co. in 1916. also sold by sear's & roebuck in the 1920's.
