Title: Bronze Cherub swinging in Tree (Pics)
Post by: KC on February 04, 2009, 08:06:38 PM
I laughed when I saw railman44 had posted a bronze because I had taken the pics to post too!  Scarey! Ha!

This bronze was given to us 12 years ago by our Opthamologist (His offices were full of antiquities and we always loved them...so one day out of the clear blue he gave us one! I guess our daughter having multiple surgeries helped too!)  He had bought it 18 years prior at a auction for European antiques.

No markings.  The tree isn't totally solid but the angel is.  Tree is 20 1/2" Tall x 15 1/2" wide by 6 1/2 " deep.  Angel/Swing are 12 1/2" Tall x 7" wide x 10" deep.  Weight 15 lbs.

Ideas on value?  Ideas on where in Europe?

He appears to have a good quality about him which hopefully leads to a mark, perhaps hard to find, even with a magnifying glass???

Tim, Thanks for the comment!   Any idea where to look?

A signature is usually on the very lowest portion of the piece.  Many bronzes aren't signed.

Have literally gone over this piece with a magnifying glass with no luck!
