Just a guess on my part but it looks like it could have come from a funeral home and held flowers.

It's Greek.circa 1920's that nice looking guy on the front is Poseidon a Greek god. low end value. $250.00 Dollars High end $350.00 Dollars.

Hi!  Nice ornate urn.  I agree with D&b circa 1920's.  Many times this is called a Mantel urn.  I totally agree on the dollar amount.  As to origin...I bow to D&b's expertise!

Kc a hint. poseidon is rarely pictured if ever with out something to do with the sea. in this case we can see.. the figure's of sea horse's. more commonly he is seen with his 3 prong trident

He may be pictured with a porpoise. but it will be of the sea.

D&b, I agree! Honestly on the first glance at the urn I didn't catch the seahorses. I recognized Poseidon but knew that most artisans included other sea figurals...for instance a shell behind the head instead of the figural leaves, or like you said with the trident.  I guess the picture/item that really caught my attention is the 2nd picture...you can see a screw.  I just haven't seen screws used in these older pieces like this.  How about you?

Screw's are not typical. but would still fit the time frame.
