Post by: amiga on February 21, 2009, 01:57:25 AM
Hi again,
I have a chinese porcelain fisherman with marks on the base. I have been unable to identify the marks. The picture is as clear as i could get so I hope someone can tell what they are. Any info welcome
Thanks

Have a question for you....is his hand supposed to be holding something or does it appear that anything was here at any time?  My grandparents had one similar and the man was holding a tool as if he was a carpenter of sorts.

I do believe that this is a Chinese Fisherman and it is one of the traditional ways that one is perceived and called Fisherman Leaning On Rock.  I believe that the pole is missing as well.

Can you please give height/width information?

He is packed away but I guess he  is aout 5-6 inches (10-15 cm) tall and 4-5 inches wide. If you need more accurate measurements I can unpack him. Hope this helps
