Title: Any doll experts here???
Post by: out2cee on March 24, 2009, 10:36:58 AM
Hi There,
A friend of mine has numerous dolls that belonged to his late mother.
He has asked me to help him with selling some of her collection,  he has emailed me a few pics...
I will have more, once I get up there and take some mmore myself.
This one in pic is about 14-16" tall .

typically any marking's will be found at the back of the neck line. rare exception's are on the bottom of the feet.

Any idea of date?  Any markings?  Any family pics with dolls in them to help date the doll?

Is the doll porcelain?  What parts of the doll are porcelain (Ex:  whole body, face/arms/legs only w/body of cloth, etc.)

Condition of doll?  Condition of clothing?  Additional clothing available for doll?

I know that is just a few of the many questions you will need to have answered in order to proceed.

One of the points they always stress on the Antiques Roadshow is if the doll's clothes are original.  Seems most of the old bisque dolls came from Germany or France.  Lots of people collect old dolls.
