THIS PITCHER NEEDS A NAME OUR LOCAL ANTIQUE DEALERS DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT IM SURE SOMEONE HAS TO KNOW ?? IT HAS 2 APPLIED KNOBS AT THE SPOUT AND AN APPLIED HANDLE LIKE A KOBALT BLUE AND THE HANDLE IS CLEAR ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO AND VALUE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Well now, iffen I were to guess, I would say that is a "one of a kind" decorator piece made by a glass blower/worker.

But if so, that is not a bad thing because cobalt glass of just about any shape or design is a good "collectible".

I agree with D&b that the decanter appears to have a "pottery" look with glass applied pieces.  Can you please specify the composition?

If it is cobalt glass...then it will have a higher desirability for buyers!  Like cogar stated, does appear to be one of a kind.

ITS LIKE A DARK BLUEISH PURPLE THROUGH THE LIGHT IT WEIGHS ABOUT 10 LBS IS GLASS .

Randell what you have is Black Amethyst. but also appears to be imported.

Agree with D&b!  Unique and desirable design.

Black Glass - used since the 1700s to make wine and other types of bottles.  Again popular with Depression and Elegant Depression glass manufacturers from the 1920s thru the 1940s.  Black glass is semi opaque/opaque glass and confused with black amethyst and black ruby glass.  One of the easier ways to determine which color  - hold it up to very strong light.  If the glass changes to a deep purple color, it is black amethyst.  It is shows up a deep reddish color, it is black ruby.
