is there an auction site to sell your silver plated item other than ebay
-
I have looked into a few other Auction site, but Ebay has the traffic, other ones tend to have little traffic and silverplate needs lots of traffic. I personnally have given up on ebay and have started my own store online with some but little success as of yet. I began a store at a place called mainstreetmallonlin e.com This however cost you $30.00 a month but unlimited posting and no other fees. This may work out when I get a base of customers, I have mostly silverplate stuff and the profit margins are kinda low for most plate. I hope some one else will have a better place and post it here then I too will jump on it. Good luck

i was thinking of rudylane.com
-
Yea that might be a good one, I heard they have posting and I know they have traffic, I just have not tried them yet. Maybe I too should look into that thanks great lead
-
I think you mean : rubylane.com
-
O.k Just looked at the fees at rubylane. kinda about the same as Ebay all in all. It has the whoopin $75.00 set up ouch, then 30 cents per item, 20 cent after 150 items. I'm sure they have the traffic. They only issue I have is most of my items are cheap and worth a few dollars, this would mean that I personnally would far about the same as Ebay. I think I better stick to my store for now but please let me know how it works if you try.

And my 2 cents .... there's always the free craigslist.org , if there's 'one' in your area .
It's kind of a tough go , trying to set up business ( I Know , ....really ) in the real world .
The o/l way bypasses alot ( a TON ) of cash flow problems for start-up , and for maintaining a biz .
I salute anyone who goes into business for themselves !
-
It has been a bit tough but for me I just want to make a new hobby pay for itself, give me a few year and more knowledge then I may take a crack at the big time.
-
Just keep pluggin' away @ it , ironlord1963 .
I'll keep an eye out for you in R.L. ....
From what I gather , you're up in the S-town area .
I'm down in the T-town area .
We're PacificNW neighbors , sorta .

epier.com fee arent bad
-
Checked out epier.com, Fees are great but like all the other new Auction site I see little bids, as a matter of fact I look at lots of listing and saw none. I would think the traffic here is kinda low. Then from a buyer stand point why is it that when you get away from ebay the prices of the items tend to jump 25% to 50% from what is on Ebay. It would seem that people are tired of all the ebay fees and then when they do find another they try and boost their price, maybe because without something to compare to they think it will sell for more. I cross reference a few item and saw sometime crazy jumps. There are so many new auction sites that from a seller this could present a big problem, from the buyer it could offer more deals if the seller don't get too greedy. After looking into all this I too have found myself guilty of this on my storefront, just never thought about it too much I guess. Guess I just want to recover my cost of the item, maybe the real problem is I bought the item for too much to begin with. Yea this is another issue where I think about it too much and makes my brain hurt :o. Oh well this is why I like this site, stimulates me brain ;D

kc.
i went to your store mainstreetmallonlin e.com is that your homepage and if it is where is your listing for silverplate under
-
Hi! If you are referring to me...I don't have a store online. Must be another person with wonderful initials! :)
-
Actually that would be me ;D. It is under the Antiques and treasure section then look for Ironlord's Antiques and Collectibles. Or just follow this link
http://www.mainstreetmallonline.com/vintage/store.php?ref=9
This is where I list my items, these are mostly the items I gathered as a rookie ::), Oh yea still am ;D
I don't place my really nice items here yet, mostly because I have only a few really nice things ::). But It is a start.
-
Ironlord...I think we stay rookies forever...because the older we get...new items get older...more antiques are designated....it's exhausting and exhilarating to think about!
-
Sounds like fun ;D, this is sure to make my brain hurt. Thanks KC for making me feel not so much of a rookie. But looking back on the about 7 months I can say I have learned alot, and had fun too, except for the crack Stafforshire pot :P, and the and then there was the and etc. ;D

Wasn't trying to be nice Ironlord - I am not nice (or so my 15 years old thinks for the past day she has been on restrictions!) ;)
We have all made our errors (or unsound choices)...some I laugh at...some I cringe at.... and the thing of it is - I know I will have many more to make and add to my list of things not to do again!
You have come along way....you have worked hard and it shows! Atta-Boy for you! (That was me being nice) (^u^)
