Title: *HELP* Antique Dresser with Attached Jewelry Box *Pics*

I searched every inch of this dresser for identification marks, I found a couple: a cursive "L" in the upper right corner (rear) of the dresser, also black paint with the letters "I26 Chest."
The wood looks to be all original, and it has never been refinished.
I aquired this dresser from an 80+ year old man who passed away a few weeks ago.  His family was going to throw it away, and I told them that I would take it.

Does anyone know the age, maker and perhaps price range of this piece?  I have been searching with no results.

typical Depression furniture.1930's in design. there were 2,000.00 + furniture mfg's working in that time frame so it's hard to say who the designer is.

As for the jewelry, box it could have have been used to store gloves. glove box's are more commonly found on the left and right. average value $ 150.00 Dollars.

Thank you so much for the quick responce - I had no idea that the "box" could be a glove box... very interesting - again thank you! 

Now I know a bit of knowledge about the piece.   ;D

Well, since it isn't in a huge price range - I guess I will refinish it and sand some areas down to make the appearance look better... since it wouldn't hurt the value LOL.

That looks to be partly walnut veneer and should refinish quite nicely. Use a good "stripper" first. Then us '00' steelwool before you do any sanding and nothing less than 220 grid sandpaper.

Just my "hints" for anyone considering such a project.

Cogar has extremely good advice...you would be well advised to take it! 

Very nice old piece.  Used to see many of these piece...and as time goes on...less and less.  The glove boxes are nice and unique (and foreign) to us these days!
