I want to know what a Messerschmitt sewing machine is worth. The model is Cl.54 ZZ-Automatic and estimate to be between 50 and 60 years old. This machine has never been used and still has the price ticket on it (76 pounds NZ). I still have the original pack of accessories including the bobbins, instruction book, oil and all the extra sewing feet.

Hello, can you please post any other information? Model number, age, photos?

Messerschmidt (the plane maker) was unable to make planes after the war (due to Allied occupation and agreement not to make planes for 10 years) and converted their plants to make sewing machines. By 1956 they were bankrupt. So....your machine is prior to that bankruptcy.

I have this sewing machine. A friend gave it to me, it was bought new for her ex-boyfriend's mother by his dad.But I have'nt got any of the attachments or the instructions, or manuals. Which I really need, I've been trying to find them everywhere. Is there anyway you could email me how to set the knobs on top so they will work. I've tried everything and can't get them to work. Also the name brand on the attachments so I will know which one to buy for it. Thank You peeweepickles

Hello
My Machine is a Messerschmitt 54ZZ there was another model that only did zig zag a 52 I think. My machine sews beautifully and has a free arm and the wooden table in the carry case to give a flat sewing surface. the was a patent dispute with Singer and their 319 model and this machine. This is a very good read. See http://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/FSupp/205/394/2181642/
The bobbins used in this machine are smaller in diameter than most of the common machines and added to that they are only 1/4" high ( same height as a Singer 221 or 222K)
I am still on the lookout for some bobbins that fit and if anyone has some please let me know. I have the manual and it is in PDF format if anyone wants.
I hope the posted photos come through
Best wishes Julie

Very interesting !! That machine almost has the look of a commercial/factory type !! I am in the U.S. so guess they were not popular here !! Odd stitch adjustments/settings !! Not at all like American sewing machines !!

How cool!!! A true piece of history!
I agree that it almost has an industrial feel to it!

Hello peeweepickles
Please send your email address to jeblake@bigpond.com and I will send it to you, give me a day or two and I will check out the attachments I will see if any standard singer feet fit. Do you have any spare bobbins?
