Title: Help with glass pieces
Post by: MelindaR on August 20, 2009, 04:50:41 PM
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me determine what these pieces are that I inherited from an aunt, and possibly where to sell them.  They're lovely and in good condition.  The jug is a dark blue with gold accents, no markings anywhere on it.  The pink and yellow vase has a tag with "savoy" on it.  The yellow pitcher has no markings.  The vase with two handles has "austria" and the number 48 on the bottom.  Thank you.

Can you please take pics of the bottoms and post them if they have any marks.

The one golden topped vase with the sticker on the side is odd....usually don't have stickers on finishes!

The sticker on the golden topped vase looks like the sticker that was on it when she bought it new.  It's a little foil sticker that says "Savoy China 24 kt gold".  The double handled vase has "Austria" and the number 48 on the bottom, and an unidentifiable marking, all in a pale red.  The pics aren't very clear, hard to get a good one with our camera.

Hi I have been doing some digging and KC I do agree stickers on finishes is odd but every piece of savoy china with this 24kt finish has a sticker somewhere on the gold overlay. I believe both gold overlay pieces are savoy as it closely resembles several savoy  pieces I have  found. will keep digging.

I would/will agree with D&b if these are large vases (meaning not miniatures 3 - 4" in heighth).  You never posted dimensions!

Thanks for all the replies, very informative.  The blue piece is actually a music box, I didn't put that in my earlier posts, will that change the value?  Sorry about the dimensions, no they are not miniatures, they're all 7 to 8 inches tall.
