Title: WWI Vases---Pictures added
Post by: corrinbarras on August 31, 2009, 07:10:39 PM
Hello all. I am trying to find out some info on 2 vases which were inherited by me. They were found in the rubble of WWI, and shipped back to my grandmother by her father, a surviving soldier, back in 1916. I will upload pics to anyone who can help me. They are dated 1916, signed "Crombels". They are two beautiful white vases etched in gold with a great pink floral print. Again, I am working on uploading pictures. Please email me if you think you can help.

Can you post pics here of the hallmarks and Signature.  These are very wonderful vases, they very much look Victorian in style, color looks a bit vivid to me and they sure are in wonderful looking condition.  Do you know if it was france or germany where the rubble was?  looks very French too.

Are they both identical or the picture is several views of one.

I must say...to have been in rubble.....they look pristine from the pics that I can see.....can't believe there weren't any chips/cracks....
