Title: ID/age on small caned seat chair?

Hello. I bought a small chair at auction tonight. It has a caned seat and is marked with a stamped "S" on the seat bottom. There's also a partial label with "1981" hand-written on it (I'm guessing it's some sort of model number, rather than year - this chair looks a lot older than 28 years). Here are photos:

the chair is likely to be and import. it's paper Rattan seating.
